milla-jovovich-9Milla Jovovich is an Ukrainian-born actress, supermodel, fashion designer, singer and public figure, who was on the cover of more than a hundred magazines, and starred in such films as The Fifth Element (1997), Ultraviolet (2006), and the Resident Evil (2002) franchise.

In 1988, Jovovich had her first acting role in the television film, The Night Train to Kathmandu. This classic movie that was shot in Nepal (around Kathmandu, Namche Bazar etc) was a hit in the box office. Milla Jovovic started her acting career from this movie and she is a fan of the Nepalese Khukuri. This is why she has featured this nepalese knife in her action movie The Resident Evil.

She chops and slices the zombies with two khukuris in her hands and was highly appreciated as a female action idol.

Jovovich gained attention for her role in the explicit 1991 romance film Return to the Blue Lagoon, as she was then only 16. She was considered to have a breakthrough with her role alongside Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman in the 1997 science-fiction film The Fifth Element, directed by Luc Besson. She and Besson married that year but soon divorced. She starred as the heroine and martyr in Besson’s The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999).

Synopsis of: “The Night Train to Kathmandu”
A young girl leaves for Nepal with her parents and brother. She is unhappy to leave her home at first, but soon isn’t when she meets a handome young man. The story unfolds into a romantic and daring quest in search of the “Invisible City.”
